To organize our guest seminar series this semester, two of our doctoral students from different groups have teamed up and suggested guests from academia or industry whose research areas, career paths, or current activities are of particular interest to as many of their colleagues as possible and which are relevant to STRESSistance. Each PhD student-team can decide whether their seminar will be organized as a morning event, an afternoon meeting, or, for example, a lunchtime seminar, and is also responsible for sending out invitations and informing the guests exactly what they would like to hear from them.

The first PhD student-team (Olha Kurpa from the Storchová lab und Subasini Thangamari from the Mühlhaus lab) suggested Dr. Julia Mahamid from the EMBL Heidelberg. We had the pleasure to welcome Julia today for a round table discussion with our PhD students on her career path and for a presentation on her research (“Enabling discovery by in-cell structural biology”) in cooperation with the Biological Colloquium of the Faculty of Biology at RPTU. It was great to have Julia as our guest, and we would like to thank her for the very interesting talk and the numerous career tips.
