An important aspect of our training concept is to support our doctoral students in their development as independent early career researchers and to prepare them for the transition to the postdoc phase or for planning a career outside academia. With regard to the latter, our doctoral students had the opportunity to take part in a job application training course in February 2024. The workshop “Push Your Career – Application Training for Academics” offered by Heidi Störr (https://www.push-your-career.de/), took place online over several days and covered topics such as e.g. active and passive job search strategies, ideas for possible positions, content and design of an application, the analysis of job advertisements and the preparation for interviews. Overall, the workshop was highly appreciated and valued by our PhD students. It enabled them to be more confident and motivated when applying for jobs in the future.
